| Heather began photographing as a child, her main subjects were her family and their holidays. She became serious about photographing when deciding to study photography and film in 1981 at Prahran College of Advanced Education in Melbourne (now Victoria College) . She obtained a Visual Arts grant from the Australia Council to travel to Berlin where she stayed for 3 years living, learning the language and photographing. When she returned to Australia she freelanced as a general photographer, assisting in aerial work, photographing parts of Australia for the Australian Tourist Commission, covering Social Events and Weddings and Still Life but it became clear her passion was in photographing people - their lives, their faces, their environments and their work places |
